Job summary

A global digital infrastructure provider in Slough is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to provide support and guidance in ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards. The role involves leading assurance visits, advising stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement. Ideal candidates should have a NEBOSH qualification and a strong understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation. This is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract position, offering an opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge of operational industries such as utilities or manufacturing is advantageous.

6 month Fixed Term Contract

Job Purpose

Provide guidance and support to IBX teams in meeting routine Health & Safety requirements, ensuring compliance and best practice. Assist with internal and external audits while working closely with the existing H&S team to strengthen knowledge and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead site assurance visits to verify compliance against Legal and Equinix Standards, procedures and processes.
  • Support stakeholders by providing relevant H&S performance data
  • Advise stakeholders and contractors on H&S matters, including compliance with applicable legislation, industry best practice and Equinix Management System, Standards, Processes, and Procedures.
  • Lead high-risk incident investigations which should identify non-compliance, root causes, and associated risks, with action plans agreed with the site management team.
  • Verify incidents, actions and safety observations being tracked to closure promptly to avoid becoming overdue.
  • Support stakeholders in identifying training requirements, including reviewing and monitoring of Team Skills Registers etc.
  • Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and Contractors to review and maintain performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead or support individual ad-hoc projects as directed and in line with current business needs and priorities.
Job Requirements
Education / Qualifications / Training
  • In-depth understanding of UK Safety, Health and Wellbeing Legislation.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications, specifically Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Technical knowledge of a related or operational industry, e.g. utilities, infrastructure, transport, manufacturing or construction, is advantageous, though not essential.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent and / or ability to demonstrate significant experience in an operational environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and remain composed under pressure.
  • Skilled in data-driven decision-making and communication.
  • Capacity to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Competence in introducing innovative H&S initiatives as well as adopting established systems.
  • Ability to introduce new ideas on H & S as well as adopting already established systems
