Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 HCA to join our friendly, enthusiastic and committed team. The large multidisciplinary team covers East Cheshire providing Integrated Sexual Health and Contraception services under our new brand “Axess”.

Experienced HCA’s will be considered for a band 3 position if they hold an NVQ level 3 or equivalent, a national care certificate, have IT skills and have experience of working within a sexual health / contraception service.

Candidates without experience will be considered; all training can be provided. The role is based at the Crewe site. Applicants may be required to travel occasionally to other locations throughout East Cheshire and be flexible to work a range of early and evening shifts. We offer a structured induction plan and ongoing supportive preceptorship using our whole team consisting of our HCA team, assistant practitioner, band 6 and 7 specialist nurses, specialist doctors and consultants. We are committed to developing the successful applicants providing support and ongoing training.

Responsibilities
  • The successful applicant will be required to deliver patient care demonstrating professionalism, working within competency and excellent communication skills in all aspects of their work.
  • The role is varied and includes venepuncture, assisting with procedures, obtaining baseline observations, computer skills, ordering of stock, stock replenishment, conducting STI screening for asymptomatic patients referring onward when required, results management, administrative duties and rotation into a receptionist role.
  • To provide an efficient and safe environment for clients and staff, reporting any potential safety issues to an appropriate team member and making suggestions for service improvement, according to Trust service policies and procedures.
  • To maintain high standards of infection control procedures according to Trust and service policies
  • To maintain client confidentiality at all times, according to Trust and service policies
  • To act as a chaperone taking into account cultural and religious beliefs, as directed by clinical staff, whilst promoting a positive image of the service.
  • Prioritise own workload and organise own workload on a daily basis to ensure the smooth running of the service.
  • Identify, report (and contribute to recording) to appropriate team member any Child Protection or Vulnerable Adult issues observed during duties, according to legislation & Trust policy
  • Assist at clinical procedures as appropriate
  • To report sickness, absence and any accident/incident to the Senior Nurse or her/his deputy.
