Job description

Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

Location: Aylesham, Kent

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the packaging industry, is seeking an experienced HSE Compliance Manager to ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and standards. This key role requires a proactive professional who can manage systems, audits, and training while driving a culture of safety and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure legal compliance with all HSE requirements and implement changes as needed.
  • Manage and monitor policies, risk assessments, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement preventative measures.
  • Maintain COSHH and DSE registers and deliver HSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks.
  • Develop and execute health surveillance and wellbeing strategies.
  • Collaborate with HR and management on risk assessments and occupational health referrals.
  • Prepare reports for KPIs, board reviews, and monthly management meetings.
Requirements
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma (essential).
  • Auditor trained with strong knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001.
  • Proven experience in HSE roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive, proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
