Overview

HEALTH AND SAFETY COORDINATOR – Location: WALSALL | Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent DAYS | Industry: Manufacturing | Salary: Based on experience + benefits - £38,000 - £40,000 | Hours: Super working hours 3pm Finish; Early Friday finish. Commutable from Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Burntwood, Wolverhampton, Willenhall, Minworth, Cannock, Lichfield, Shenstone, Stone, Stafford, Barton-Under-Needwood and Telford. We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Coordinator to lead and oversee all aspects of health and safety across the business. This role is critical in ensuring legal compliance and embedding a culture of safety, particularly within our technical operations. The ideal candidate will also bring a working understanding of HR processes to support wider business functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain Health & Safety policies, risk assessments, and procedures.
  • Deliver training and coaching to staff and management.
  • Lead audits, accident investigations, and RIDDOR reporting.
  • Ensure fire safety, emergency protocols, and critical equipment inspections are in place.
  • Liaise with external bodies (HSE, insurers) and stay up to date with legal changes.
  • Support continuous improvement across H&S and HR (where relevant).
Requirements
  • Relevant experience in Health & Safety within manufacturing / engineering.
  • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, including DSEAR, COSHH, and SSOW.
  • NEBOSH Certification.
  • Experience developing and delivering H&S training programs.
  • Proven track record of implementing and upgrading H&S and HR processes.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 and Quality Management Systems.
  • Collaborative, adaptable approach to improving safety culture and operational practices.
  • Confident communicator and a hands-on team player.
