Overview

The Neurology/Headache Team has an exciting new opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Headache. This role would be suitable for a candidate who has an interest or some experience in neurology with relevant knowledge and who is keen to develop their skills in this area. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the current Advanced Headache Nurse Specialist and Consultant Neurologists to develop competencies in this highly specialised role. This is a highly satisfying, but demanding role and it is essential that candidates are extremely motivated, proactive, dedicated and willing to learn.

Responsibilities
  • Working within the Neurology/Headache team based at York Teaching Hospital, closely with the nursing and medical teams.
  • Managing a defined caseload and assessing care needs, developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care, and setting standards of care.
  • Providing specialised treatment plans for patients including Botox and Greater Occipital Nerve block injections.
  • Offering specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and contributing to the development of the specialty service.
  • Ensuring cost effective use of resources.
  • If working as a non-medical prescriber, initiating and prescribing treatment and evaluating its clinical effectiveness.
