Medivet Hucknall are hiring for a Head Veterinary Nurse!

Medivet Hucknall is a busy, well‑equipped, purpose‑built clinic. The clinic features an operating theatre, prep area, digital X‑ray, ultrasound. With access to MRI and CT scanners at the nearby East Midlands Referrals orthopaedic centre, and is close to our 24‑hour Alfreton Hospital.

You will be working alongside an experienced Vet, three RVNs, two Client Support Assistants, and an Office Manager — all managing a busy caseload while delivering excellent patient care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take the next step in your clinical career, based in a great location with easy transport links to Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield and beyond.

This is a full‑time, permanent position (40 hours 1 in 8 full weekends at our Alfreton 24hour Hospital.

Role Accountabilities

• Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
• Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
• Carry out nurse‑led appointments and schedule 3 activities.
• Deliver patient monitoring and care.
• Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
• Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
• Dispense and check medication.
• Deliver professional excellence, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
• Hold briefings to engage and co‑ordinate your team to support the most effective running of the practice.

Your Skills and Experience

• RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
• Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
• Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
• Experience of supporting Nurse consults, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
• Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
