Overview

Applications are invited for the post of Head of the Undergraduate Medical Education Section within the Education Division of the Office of the School of Clinical Medicine. The post holder will be based at the Clinical School, on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the School's Undergraduate Education administration.
  • Organise and deliver the clinical components of the University's three medical courses: the Standard Clinical Course (six years, approximately 270 students per year, with the clinical component mainly comprising Years 3-6), the MB/PhD Programme (nine years, approximately 5-10 students per year, in which students intercalate a PhD between Years 4 and 5 of the medical course), and the Cambridge Graduate Course (four years, approximately 40 graduate students per year).
  • Maintain excellent relationships and communication with administrative and teaching staff on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and across the numerous Trusts and GP practices involved in teaching Cambridge medical students.
Qualifications
  • Degree (preferably in a related field).
  • Experienced administrator, preferably in higher education and ideally in medical education.
  • Excellent management, team leadership, change and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
  • Understanding of assessment procedures is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly, rapidly assimilate new information, and meet challenging deadlines.
