Overview

Head of Technical. Are you a Head of Technical with experience of managing internal technical teams? I am currently working alongside a leading residential developer who are recruiting for a Head of Technical to lead the internal design/technical function and manage a technical team reporting directly into the regional director.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical team to deliver residential developments on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Oversee the preparation and coordination of planning applications, technical drawings, and engineering reports.
• Manage external consultants including architects, engineers, and surveyors.
• Ensure all designs are practical, buildable, cost-effective, and compliant with current building regulations, NHBC, and planning conditions.
• Provide technical support across land acquisition, planning, and construction phases.
• Collaborate closely with land, planning, commercial, and construction teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Manage the discharge of planning conditions and building control requirements.
• Monitor technical budgets and support value engineering processes to optimise development returns.
• Review and approve technical designs, ensuring they meet company standards and statutory requirements.
• Stay up to date with industry regulations, innovations, and sustainability practices.
