Head of Sales

My client is an International Freight, Transport, distribution and warehousing Logistics provider based in the Midlands.

We are now recruiting for an experienced Head of Sales, to lead and shape the commercial strategy across the business.

With full accountability for driving commercial performance across all sales functions - including sales growth, enhancing profitability, and strengthening customer relationships within the logistics, distribution & forwarding business segments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching, developing, and mentoring the existing Sales team to ensure continued growth and operational excellence. This role requires a confident, commercially astute leader with a proven ability to drive results, influence at all levels, and deliver sustained success in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment. The role requires a combination of strategic thinking, business acumen, and leadership skills.

Reporting directly to the MD. This is a senior‑level, hands‑on commercial role which will suit an individual who enjoys a challenge and leading people through influence as well as direction.

Experience required
  • Proven experience in a similar commercial or sales management role within the Logistics, Distribution & Supply Chain industry.
  • Operational experience and a good knowledge of road freight groupage market are both extremely advantageous, but not essential.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing commercial strategies that drive revenue, margin, and market growth.
  • A strong background in customer relationship management, especially with major or key accounts.
  • Experience in leading or influencing cross‑functional teams, including sales, marketing, and field sales.
  • Excellent commercial negotiation skills, with experience managing tenders, contracts, and pricing models.
  • A proven track record of coaching, mentoring & developing teams to high performance.
  • A strong team player, exude leadership capabilities and create / foster a strong collegiate working environment.
  • You will be a hands‑on leader, used to getting things done in a team environment.
  • You will above all else, be a leader who makes a difference.
  • A degree ideally in Business, Finance, Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain, Freight Forwarding or related fields.
Salary & Benefits
