A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Head of Legal in London. Job description
Overview

As Head of Legal, you will be the first legal appointment in this newly created subsidiary spinning out from a global, well-established business.

The role needs someone who is very experienced and who can establish and lead the legal and regulatory function but who is equally very happy to pick up anything and everything that comes to the legal team, no matter the level of technicality.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the legal advisor to the CEO, Board and Senior Management
  • Oversee the structuring, drafting and negotiation of a broad range of commercial and financial agreements (including physical and financial trading documentation)
  • Manage and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across the business activities including compliance with REMIT, EMIR, MiFID II, MAR, FCA and other energy and financial regulations
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in drafting, negotiating and advising on EFET, tolling agreements and joint venture documentation
  • In‑depth knowledge of UK and EU energy trading and market conduct regulations
  • Ideally at least 8 years of PQE, either in private practice or in‑house within an energy and/or commodities environment
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to balance commercial priorities and sound legal judgement
