Job description
Head of Estates and Facilities

Hours: 35.5 per week, all year round

Salary: £59,127 to £70,074 (starting salary negotiable)

Location: West Yorkshire

At Pivot we believe children deserve better. In our academies we teach and support children and young people from Key Stages 2 – 5 who have been excluded from school, for whom mainstream education is simply not working, or those with an EHCP who require a specialist placement. Every day our teams do incredible work, making a huge difference to some complex and challenging children, many of whom come to us with traumatic backgrounds.

We are excited to offer a new opportunity for an experienced Head of Estates and Facilities to join our central team.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership across our growing group of special schools, outreach hubs and office locations. Your work will ensure that every environment is safe, compliant, welcoming and fit for learning - enabling our provisions to focus on what matters most.

This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone who thrives on responsibility, enjoys leading people and projects and wants to see the tangible impact of their work every day.

What you’ll do
  • Lead, manage and inspire the estates team, promoting a culture of professionalism, safety and continuous improvement
  • Shape and deliver the estates and facilities strategy across multiple sites
  • Project manage works across all locations, including capital projects and the setup of new schools or hubs
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance and site development
  • Collaborate closely with architects, planners, contractors and senior leaders to deliver high-quality learning environments
What we’re looking for
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Proven leadership experience within estates, facilities or health and safety management
  • A track record of successfully delivering projects across multiple sites
  • Excellent organisational, communication and people management skills
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset with the confidence to make informed decisions
  • Experience in education would be highly advantageous
Why Pivot?

Working at Pivot means being part of a values-led organisation where estates and facilities are recognised as a strategic enabler, not a back-office function. You’ll work closely with education and operational leaders in a supportive, forward-thinking organisation that invests in its people and infrastructure.

We offer
  • A competitive salary
  • Ongoing professional development and support for relevant qualifications
  • Flexible working arrangements, with office hubs in Huddersfield, Leeds and Wakefield
  • The opportunity to lead meaningful projects that make a real difference to young people who need it most
  • Further additional benefits, including an annual leave allowance of 41 days each year

The role includes regular travel across our sites.

Closing Date: 7 January 2026

Interviews: 15 January 2026 (first stage)

We do encourage you to submit your application form as soon as possible, as we reserve the right to change the closing date for a vacancy and interview before the advertised closing date.

We are committed to safeguarding our young people and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service check and appropriate referencing.

During the shortlisting process, Pivot will carry out an online search on shortlisted candidates as part of its due diligence.
