Overview

Head of Engineering & Infrastructure - Manchester (Hybrid Remote) - £95k
2-3 days on-site per week. Greenfield modernisation project focusing on a PHP/Ai-enabled platform with autonomy and progression to CTO. Flexible working with LTIP potential.

Ada Meher is proud to be working exclusively with a client in the SaaS financial reporting space as they search for a Head of Engineering & Infrastructure to spearhead a greenfield re-platforming and modernisation of their two core products. They are aiming to leverage technology to make the business more efficient and scalable and are looking for an individual with an excellent track record in turn-around and modernisation work to drive this. You will have the backing of the board to make decisions on technical design and process implementations with autonomy and clarity on measurable goals. There is an appetite from the business to incorporate AI into both the product, to maximise their offering to customers, and their development practices, to improve efficiency and speed of delivery. As such, an ideal candidate will have experience leading teams with practical applications of AI. There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to progress into a CTO role as the business scales. The company are productivity focused, so offer autonomy and flexibility in how your diary is managed but do ask for a candidate to be local to Manchester and come into the office 2-3 days per week to work with the team. In terms of hours, there is flexibility to work around life\'s other commitments - but with the ultimate focus on delivering value to the business.

Responsibilities
  • Spearhead a greenfield re-platforming and modernisation of two core SaaS products.
  • Lead technology design decisions, architectural patterns, and process implementations with autonomy and clear, measurable goals.
  • Drive modernisation practices (Microservices, CI/CD, IaC, TDD & Automation Testing) within a Digital Transformation context.
  • Collaborate with product, security, and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and valuable software.
  • Work onsite 2-3 days per week in Manchester (hybrid) and align with business pacing and delivery timelines.
  • Provide focus on delivering Speed, Security, Scalability and Stability.
Qualifications
  • Notable experience implementing modern technology and practices into a SaaS business as part of a Digital Transformation (e.g., Microservices, CI/CD, IaC, TDD & Automation Testing).
  • A strong background in either Software Engineering (ideally PHP) or Infrastructure Engineering, with an appreciation of the other.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security principles and frameworks (e.g., ISO / Cyber Essentials).
  • Experience utilising AI as either a product feature or a development tool.
  • Focus on delivering Speed, Security, Scalability and Stability.
