  • Design and operate a market risk framework for UK trading including compliance reporting.
  • Identify risks and opportunities through market assessments and planning.
  • Act as financial lead on commercial initiatives and business cases.
  • Lead the external audit ensuring governance standards.
  • Build and lead a finance and risk team focused on improvement.

We are looking for a Head of Energy Markets Finance and Risk for E.ON's Energy Markets. This role is based in Solihull, with travel to other E.ON offices.

Here's what you'll be doing

As Head of Energy Markets Finance and Risk, you will be responsible for leading all market risk management and financial controlling activity for the Energy Markets function within E.ON UK.

Reporting to the E.ON Next Finance Director, you will be a key member of the Energy Markets Leadership Team, playing a pivotal role in optimising business performance through insightful financial leadership, robust risk management, and strong commercial decision support.

This is a senior leadership role with significant exposure to executive stakeholders across the UK and Group, covering wholesale markets, trading activity, and complex financial frameworks.

Key responsibilities
  • Own the EEM UK P&L, providing clear financial control, performance insight, and cashflow oversight, including intercompany transactions
  • Lead executive-level performance reviews with EEM GmbH CFO and CEO, driving robust analysis and constructive challenge
  • Develop a deep understanding of UK wholesale cost performance, ensuring clear and consistent messaging across E.ON Next and NCGL
  • Design and operate a comprehensive market risk framework for UK trading activity, including daily monitoring, compliance reporting, and advanced risk metrics (e.g. VaR)
  • Proactively assess market developments, identifying risks and opportunities through forecasting and medium-term planning
  • Act as financial lead on key commercial and strategic initiatives, including the Telecom Plus contract, transfer pricing of c. £7bn of wholesale costs, and business cases covering PPAs, batteries, flexibility, and weather derivatives
  • Lead the external audit for EEM UK and ensure strong governance and control standards
  • Build and lead a high-performing, modern finance and risk team, driving digitisation, automation, and continuous improvement
