Opihi College is seeking a passionate and innovative mathematics teacher to lead our Mathematics Department, teaching learners across Y9–13.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity to inspire and engage learners in a supportive, close-knit environment, where small class sizes and strong relationships enable tailored, meaningful learning. Expertise in calculus would be an advantage, but is not essential. You will bring strong curriculum knowledge, leadership capability, and a commitment to student success, guiding senior learners through NCEA pathways while ensuring high-quality programmes across the school.

You will lead a collegial and dedicated department, fostering collaboration, innovation, and effective teaching practice. Your ability to build positive relationships with students and staff, alongside your adaptability and energy, will be key to ensuring every learner has the opportunity to succeed in mathematics.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $61,329 to $103,086, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. The successful applicant’s actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once the role is confirmed.
