This role involves managing delivery functions, overseeing budgetary allocations, and enhancing digital solutions. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, alongside proven experience in budget management and agile practices. The company promotes a hybrid work culture, encouraging collaboration and innovation within cross-functional teams.
You will be part of the Times Customer team. The Times informs, entertains, campaigns, and innovates, and our technology team is at the heart of this, supporting a creative, multi-channel media operation. The Customer team develops and maintains the technology that powers registration and subscription experiences. You will be involved in key projects such as rolling out new customer experiences, enabling product differentiation, and integrating AI-powered tools like Einstein into our Call Centre operations.
As Head of Delivery for the Times Customer team, you will lead the delivery function and enable cross-functional software development teams to produce high-quality digital solutions. Your focus will be on driving efficient delivery processes and fostering collaboration to ensure the continuous enhancement of our digital capabilities. You will report to the Director of Technology (Customer) and manage a team of direct reports.
In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end delivery of initiatives, coordinating teams to plan and develop roadmaps that align with organisational goals. You will manage the Times Customer Capex budgets, ensuring accurate financial tracking and forecasting, while optimising team structures.
You will also be responsible for the performance, career development, and progression of Programme Managers, Agile Project Managers, and Scrum Masters. Championing Agile principles, you will help build collaborative, cross-functional teams and translate high-level business proposals into actionable roadmaps. Additionally, you will act as the primary contact for procurement and vendor teams, managing relationships and ensuring strong performance from third-party partners.
We are seeking someone with proven success in managing programmes and leading delivery across multiple, potentially globally distributed teams. You should have experience managing programme budgets, monitoring expenditure, and forecasting costs, alongside resource management.
Strong leadership skills are essential, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and foster a collaborative team culture. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required to manage stakeholder expectations effectively. You should also be proficient in using Agile metrics such as velocity and cycle time to monitor progress and drive continuous improvement.
