Head of Compliance – Facilities Management (Senior Leadership Role)

Are you a senior compliance or engineering professional ready to shape and lead a technical assurance function? We’re recruiting a Head of Compliance to direct the independent Compliance Assurance team within Facilities Management — a critical role ensuring rigorous governance, statutory compliance, and technical excellence across a complex estate.

This is a high‑impact leadership position, combining strategic ownership of the compliance assurance framework with hands‑on oversight of a major key account.

The Opportunity
As Head of Compliance, you will :
  • Lead and develop a specialist team of compliance auditors and technical experts.
  • Own and enhance the organisation’s statutory compliance assurance framework.
  • Deliver a robust, risk‑based audit programme across all technical and M&E disciplines.
  • Act as the senior subject matter expert on statutory and technical compliance.
  • Produce high‑level reporting and insights for the senior leadership team.
  • Personally oversee compliance assurance for a key account, providing detailed auditing, verification, and client liaison.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at both strategic and operational levels—someone who wants to influence the business at scale while maintaining hands‑on technical credibility.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead a team of 10 compliance professionals across the UK.
  • Audit statutory obligations including gas safety, EICRs, fire safety, water hygiene (L8), LOLER / PUWER and more.
  • Verify technical evidence, manage non‑conformities, and track corrective actions.
  • Partner closely with Hard FM, Lifecycle, H&S, and Technical Teams.
  • Set standards, drive continuous improvement, and support a culture of safety and inclusion.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
  • Senior experience in statutory compliance or technical assurance within FM (preferably PFI / complex environments).
  • Mechanical or Electrical engineering background with in‑depth M&E knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of UK compliance legislation and technical standards.
  • Proven leadership of technical / compliance teams.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator able to influence at senior level.
Desirable
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it.
  • Lead Auditor (ISO 9001 / 45001 / 14001).
  • NEBOSH Diploma / relevant engineering degree.
  • AP (Authorised Person) experience.
  • Familiarity with SFG20, CIBSE guides, HTMs / HBNs.
  • CAFM compliance management experience.
