Job summary

A prominent healthcare provider in Greater London seeks a dedicated Head and Neck and Thyroid Clinical Nurse Specialist. The ideal candidate will have strong oncology knowledge and experience, particularly in providing comprehensive care for cancer patients. Qualifications

Head and Neck and Thyroid CNS

We are looking for an inspirational cancer nurse committed to delivering excellent patient care to Head and Neck and Thyroid Cancer patients for a substantive Band 7 CNS post at UCLH.

UCLH is the specialist surgery centre for head and neck surgery and an active oncology team. You will be part of the Head and Neck and Thyroid Clinical Nurse Specialist team, led by the Lead CNS, comprising Macmillan CNSs, an Enhanced Recovery CNS and a Macmillan Cancer Support Worker.

Main duties of the job

The Head & Neck & Thyroid Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide holistic care and support to patients and families, acting as the key worker and advocate throughout the cancer journey. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist nursing advice and care from suspected cancer through diagnosis and multimodality treatment.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team decision making and service development.
  • Managing altered airway, complex wounds, enteral feeding and other clinical challenges.
  • Teaching and education for patients, carers and staff.

Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse Part 1 or 2
  • Relevant nursing degree (oncology or surgery)
