If you do then the Surgical Directorate is currently looking for Health Care Support Worker for an exciting role on Ward 16

Our focus is on providing safe and exceptionally skilled surgical care to our patients. We focus heavily on training, education, staff support and development; alongside collaborative working with our Consultants and other professionals. We consider ourselves a supportive team, who welcome learners and those wishing to grow their skills and knowledge.

To work as part of a multidisciplinary team assisting with patient care and other departmental‑related duties as directed by a Registered Nurse to ensure kind, safe, and compassionate care for patients.

The successful candidate will work within the already established team in delivering high quality seamless care to emergency surgical patients

The roles and responsibilities of a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) include (but not limited to):
  • Making sure patients are comfortable
  • Helping patients move around
  • Washing and dressing patients
  • Taking basic observations and updating patient records
  • Keeping departments tidy and ensuring equipment is clean
  • Serving meals and helping patients eat
  • Administering medication to patients
  • Collecting, storing, and labeling biological specimens
  • Keeping hospital supplies properly stocked and organized
  • Working closely with other healthcare professionals such as nurses, physicians, and therapists in order to provide patients with exceptional care
  • Support workers may also provide physical and emotional support, encourage and support the development of personal skills, and help with household tasks
