Overview

Hardware Design Lead

Location: Stevenage or Bristol

On-site: 3-4 days per week

Engagement: Inside IR35

Rate: Competitive market rates

Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is looking for a skilled Hardware Design Lead to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves working with a large team of analogue and digital electronics design engineers, focusing on the design and development of high-speed MPSoC FPGA and AI hardware solutions targeting SDR, radar signal processing, and sensor fusion applications.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Technical Lead/Architect and collaborating with systems, software, firmware, mechanical, and production teams to specify elegant and optimised solutions.
  • Responsible for the detailed design of high-speed digital aspects and leading all electronics design activities through the full product development lifecycle.
Qualifications
  • Experience in complex, high-speed digital electronics design
  • Proficient in MPSoC FPGA, DDR and Flash memory, and high-speed serial interconnect design
  • Experience with SI and PI Analysis
  • Familiarity with VHDL for supporting board-level test and debug
  • Understanding of DSP concepts for SDR, radar signal processing, and optical sensors
  • Ability to develop elegant hardware architectures through detailed understanding and collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Strong academic background to support this intellectually demanding role
  • Proven ability to drive collaboration and ensure successful delivery
  • Excellent skills in configuring and documenting designs to a high professional standard
