Overview

As Halal Slaughter Operative you will be culling birds in line with Halal standards. You must understand the Islamic procedure and conditions for slaughtering animals. After Halal slaughter, you will operate within the Intake rotation for the remainder of the shift. You will be working in a fast-paced FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf life products where hygiene standards are critical.

Responsibilities
  • Handling and slaughtering of live poultry.
  • Work is repetitive and involves job rotation; operate as part of a team and communicate with others.
  • Adhere to allergen controls.
  • Wear correct PPE for the area you are working in.
  • Aware of, understand and adhere to health & safety procedures.
  • Aware of, understand and adhere to food hygiene procedures.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Follow instructions as directed by the Section Manager or other members of the management team.
  • Employees may be required to carry out critical control point (CCP) checks in accordance with procedures.
  • A basic level of communication and numeracy is essential.
  • Must fully understand the Islamic procedure and conditions for slaughtering animals.
  • No qualifications are required; however, full training will be provided to obtain the WATOK licence (Welfare of Animals at the Time of Killing).
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in the food manufacturing industry would be desirable.
  • A basic Food Hygiene certificate and manual handling training would be desirable.
  • A high degree of self-motivation and physical fitness is required.
