Job summary

A fashion studio is seeking a skilled Hair & Makeup Artist to produce high-quality looks for e-commerce and creative shoots. The role involves working closely with a creative team, maintaining equipment and hygiene routines, and adapting styles for different environments. Job description
What is the role

Working closely with the in‑house studio team, including stylists and photographers, to ensure makeup aligns with the creative vision of each shoot. Interpret and execute looks that reflect the brand’s identity, staying within established guidelines and briefs.

Primarily based at the in‑house fashion studio, preparing models for e‑commerce, and campaign shoots. Occasionally travel to on‑location shoots, adapting makeup to suit different environments and lighting conditions.

What you will do
  • Produce consistent, high‑quality hair and make‑up in response to briefs for e‑commerce and creative.
  • Working at pace throughout the day reacting to any changes as the shoot progresses.
  • Will be required to attend location shoots supporting the creative team with the delivery on campaign imagery.
  • Maintenance and provision of HMU workstations and equipment, sourcing consumables and other kit.
  • Ability to interpret style guides and a range of bespoke briefs to deliver consistent standards across sets.
  • Support team leads and management to develop and progress specifications in response to briefs.
  • Expert level of technical and creative application of skills to manipulate hair & make‑up on set.
  • Understand impacts of continuous and strobe lighting on model’s skin and hair, with the ability to offer suggestions and solutions.
  • Expertise with fake tan issues/inconsistencies.
  • Proactively respond to feedback and quality assurance issues and actions.
  • Continuously improve, always working expanding own skillset and ability.
  • Suggest skin/hair care routines to our models if they are regularly turning up with issues.
  • Maintain awareness of health and safety issues and legislation.
  • Ensuring the relevant hygiene routines and followed before and after a shoot.
  • Will be required to attend shoots both nationally and internationally and will be required to work unsociable hours.

  • Relevant qualification in hair & makeup subject.
  • Experience in the studio and production industry with an understanding of production processes.
  • Expertise gained from both inhouse and agency studios experience.
  • Understanding of industry best practice.
  • Awareness of current and emerging HMU trends
  • Experience of working on set with creative teams.
  • Calm under pressure and skilled in contributing to high pressure shoots and pre‑production activity build up.
  • Assess ever changing situations and make informed decisions and recommendations for own area.
  • Experience of collaborating with both creative and operational functions.
  • Established relationships with HMU agencies and partners.
  • Experience of risk assessment for HMU disciplines
  • Be highly organised and have good presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work well within a team and to use own initiative.
  • Proven record of good attendance and flexibility.
  • High energy and enthusiasm to succeed.
  • PC & Mac Operating Systems
  • Basic understanding of MS365 and Adobe CC software.
