Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking an Assistant Accountant for a client in the Rhymney Valley area. This role involves supporting the finance function, handling month-end management accounts, and assisting with audit preparations. The ideal candidate will be part-qualified ACCA or CIMA with strong Excel skills and a proactive mindset. You will gain comprehensive exposure to a full finance function in a dynamic business environment.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (or actively studying).
• Strong Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables.
• Experience working with ERP systems is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts including journals and prepayments.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations with strong audit trails.
• Prepare audit working papers and respond to auditor queries.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives including automation.

Skills

AAT Level 4 or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (or actively studying)

Strong Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables

Experience working with an ERP system (SAP preferred)

Sound understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes

High attention to detail
