What you will be doing

Exciting opportunity to work in a cross functional team (design and manufacturing engineering) supporting one of the most technically complex and interesting vessels in manufacture on site. As part of this role you will have the opportunity to lead a team of engineers supporting their growth and development as well as striving to meet a number of critical KPIs around quality productivity and drumbeat for SSNA.

Responsibilities
  • Lead team to deliver key technical outputs meeting performance targets.
  • Supporting / Coaching team on technical tasks and personal development
  • Ensuring team meet launch targets through collaborative engagement with all functions in NB&C
  • Support to development cells to create customer development plans for individuals.
  • Lead on challenging and significant technical issues to support production and delivery.
  • Represent the team in a positive manner acting as a stand in for the engineering manager
  • Liaison with other departments such as Design Engineering & Technology Manufacturing Quality and Purchasing to ensure delivery of parts to set timescales and targeted costs.

Qualifications
  • UK minimum HND / foundation degree qualified or another national equivalent or have the requisite technical experience.
  • Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng) is desirable.
  • Possess a general understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to the business i.e. Machining Welding NDE Fabrication & Assembly and Metrology.
  • Possess a general awareness of Manufacturing Systems (i.e. NX Teamcentre CAPP SAP) relevant to the business is desirable.
  • Have a good understanding of Engineering processes relevant to their role i.e. DfM.
  • Personal skills to manage relationships and influence internally and externally to the department
Communication planning and coordinating skills

Ability to manage ambiguity ability to set priorities and deal with change and drive for Results
