Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Scarborough

Salary: Above Real living wage

Contract Type: Flexible with consistent full time availability

Typical Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Do you have a passion for grounds maintenance and a talent for leading people? We’re looking for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to join our team and help deliver exceptional outdoor spaces for our clients.

What you’ll be responsible for:

As Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll take ownership of day-to-day operations, ensuring that grounds and tree works are carried out to the highest standards. You’ll lead and motivate a team, coordinate resources, and maintain excellent client relationships.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll balance operational oversight with practical work – from scheduling and quality checks to mentoring staff and operating machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor your team to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
  • Plan and coordinate staff rotas, work schedules, and resources.
  • Monitor and inspect sites to ensure compliance with specifications and health & safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain machinery, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and attend client meetings as required.
  • Support additional works and sustainability initiatives as directed.
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to develop others.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence (essential).
  • Experience with modern maintenance equipment and safe working practices.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Good understanding of health & safety, including PPE and environmental standards.

Desirable: PA1 & PA6 qualifications, CSCS card, experience with cost control and resource allocation.
