Grid Connections Manager - Renewable Energy Infrastructure (UK‑Based)

A fast‑scaling Independent Power Producer is seeking a Grid Connections Manager to lead the successful integration of large‑scale renewable energy assets into the UK electricity grid. With major capital investment secured and planning permission in place for rapid expansion, this business is on track to become a significant force in the UK's energy transition.

You'll be responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient connection of nationally significant projects—including battery energy storage systems, hydrogen‑ready thermal power plants, and green hydrogen electrolysis facilities—facilitating their smooth transition from development to operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Manage one or more grid connection projects from inception to energisation.
  • Strategic Development: Design and implement initiatives to streamline grid connection processes, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Planning & Execution: Lead scheduling and delivery of grid milestones, ensuring compliance with regulatory, technical, and commercial requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with grid operators, regulators, and consultants to enable seamless collaboration.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks, implementing contingency plans to avoid delays and disruptions.
  • Process Improvement: Drive internal improvements using technology and automation to enhance efficiency and governance.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Train and support internal teams on grid connection best practices and regulatory developments.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop reporting tools to track progress and performance of grid connection activities.
  • Commercial Input: Advise investment teams on grid‑related inputs to financial models, including costs, timelines, energy yield, and operational assumptions.
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Systems or similar.
  • 5+ years' experience in project or operational leadership within the energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of UK grid codes, connection processes, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven track record of delivering grid connection projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Financial and analytical acumen with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in project management and reporting tools.
Why This Role?
  • Join a pioneering IPP with secured investment and a clear path to scale.
  • Lead critical infrastructure projects that support the UK's net zero ambitions.
  • Be part of a collaborative, high‑impact team shaping the future of energy.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
