Sheriff's Highway Veterinary Hospital was established in 1948 and since that time it has developed an enviable reputation for providing an excellent level of care. Easy commuting distance to Newcastle city centre renowned for culture and social life, close to Northeast coastline with award winning beaches, also close to beautiful countryside of Northumberland and County Durham. You will be based at our Gateshead practice but may be required to work at our other sites.

We have a large, supportive and compassionate team of 15 Vets, 17 RVNs, 1 SVN and a great reception and administration team. Within our team, we have certificate holders in Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology and Diagnostic Imaging.

Practice facilities and equipment include Digital x-ray, Ultrasound with doppler, ECG, in-house lab, laparoscopic surgical equipment, orthopaedic surgical equipment, dental x-ray and a wide range of advanced surgical equipment.

You will work 40 hours per week over 4 days a week, Monday to Friday with a set day off. You will be working 38 hours during the week then 1 in 3 Saturdays alternating between a full day Saturday at our main Gateshead site, then a Saturday morning 9am-12pm at branch.

You will be supported by working alongside more experienced vets, with fortnightly mentoring sessions blocked out with a dedicated GDP advisor. We provide an encouraging and supportive atmosphere with lots of vets in practice who have been through the new grad scheme themselves.
