We are looking for a talented Junior Software Developer to join our Defence and Security team. This is a Bristol-based role with a September 2026 start date. The position involves hybrid working and occasional travel to client sites.

Role Overview

In this role you will develop and maintain applications that meet our customers’ needs, working on cutting‑edge projects, collaborating with a dynamic team and contributing to software solutions that support national security. We provide comprehensive Oracle training and support to help you develop your skills.

Responsibilities
  • Write and maintain code, troubleshoot software issues, and fix bugs
  • Participate in code reviews, conduct tests to ensure code quality, and contribute to quality assurance activities
  • Work closely with senior developers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into functional code
  • Ensure that all code is well‑documented and maintain documentation for existing systems and processes
  • Continuously improve coding skills, stay updated with industry trends, and be proactive in learning new technologies and tools
  • Create and maintain database objects such as tables, views, and stored procedures
  • Implement security measures to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with security standards
About the candidate
  • A Bachelor's degree (2.1 or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Some understanding of relational database design and experience with one or more SQL, PL/SQL or T-SQL languages
