The Role

We are a nurturing SEMH primary school dedicated to supporting children with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. Many of our pupils may experience dysregulated behaviour and require a sensitive, trauma-informed approach to learning. Our team works collaboratively, applying therapeutic and trauma-informed strategies throughout the school to ensure every child feels safe, understood, and empowered to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Pupil Engagement Assistant to join our supportive team. You will play a key role in creating a structured, caring environment where every child can succeed. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver nurturing, personalised support, applying therapeutic approaches and trauma-informed practice across all aspects of school life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs, including those who may present with dysregulated behaviour
  • Implement trauma-informed and therapeutic strategies to promote wellbeing and engagement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a consistent, supportive environment for all pupils
  • Encourage positive relationships and resilience in pupils to enable them to access learning effectively
  • Contribute to individual education plans, ensuring each child receives personalised support
Non-negotiables
  • Strong passion about working 1:1 or group settings
  • Must possess good numeracy and literacy skills
  • >Experience in one or more creative subjects (Music, Drama, Sports, Art, Creative Writing, Psychology)
  • Must have the ability to work under the guidance of the classroom teacher and as part of a wider team
