Express Recruitment are excited to be working in partnership with one of the UK’s leading supply chain specialists of heavy industrial equipment and castings, catering for growing worldwide sectors, from Mining to Construction. Due to continued success, our client is keen to recruit a highly attentive and technically astute Global Technical Product and Quality Engineer. The successful candidate will drive their manufacturing process improvement operations throughout the business.

Contracted working hours are 37.5 hours per week, 9:00 am–5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Due to the demanding and varied nature of the role the successful candidate will be required to travel overseas to China and other parts of Asia to visit client manufacturing facilities (typically 3–4 times per year). Their UK facilities are based in Nottingham.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure industrial parts and precision components have been thoroughly assessed and inspected prior to exporting to suppliers.
  • Consult closely with customers to resolve any pending issues or queries in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Coordinate risks and FMEAs to the Technical Director.
  • Take ownership of the implementation of ‘CSR’ policies within all factories to maintain and protect employee welfare.
  • Investigate and implement continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing techniques to manufacturing processes currently conducted by preferred vendors, applying in‑depth knowledge of fabrication, casting, tooling and materials.
  • Prepare detailed product reports based on findings conducted via market research, identifying current competitor trends.
  • Attend and represent the company at various educational workshops, maintaining up‑to‑date technical knowledge of market changes.
  • Travel to various manufacturing facilities throughout the UK and overseas to assist with manufacturing process improvements.

Skills & Experience
  • HND/Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or similar field
  • Demonstrable background within product development and industrial manufacturing
  • Proven knowledge of castings and heavy fabrication, strongly preferred
  • Good understanding of applying FEA/FMEA analysis
  • LEAN Manufacturing Champion, in‑depth understanding of Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, 8D, 5Y, Poka-Yoke
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings (CREO), with capability of modifying 2D/3D drawings desirable
  • Solid shop‑floor experience, with hands‑on capabilities to include milling, turning, grinding, fabrication and welding
  • Flexible with UK and overseas travel (holder of full UK driving licence and UK passport essential)
