Job description
Position Overview

Mott MacDonald Bentley are recruiting for a GIS Operative to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA). The 330km SPA Project by Anglian Water is under construction and will be completed during AMP8. Beyond this we have a further 260km of water transfer pipelines and associated infrastructure to be delivered in AMP8.

What will you be doing as our new GIS Operator? The SPA GIS system is essential to supporting all phases of the projects, from consenting through construction to asset handover. Joining our team as a GIS Operator, you will contribute to managing SPA’s enterprise GIS database and GIS task delivery (e.g., map production, survey support, analysis and automation). You will also have opportunities to identify and develop new workflows within the GIS environment. This role would suit applicants at an early stage in their career, offering the opportunity to gain experience working on a major infrastructure programme.

Responsibilities
  • Produce high‑quality GIS outputs (maps and analysis) and apply SPA GIS Standards.
  • Manage data, perform data management processes and procedures.
  • Support the SPA GIS Manager/GIS Team and other disciplines to collect, collate, manage, analyse and share spatial data.
  • Improve data management processes, automation and integration within the SPA GIS team.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and streamline GIS processes that benefit the SPA GIS team and wider project team.
Qualifications
  • Previous professional GIS experience or ambition to deliver GIS solutions to large‑scale infrastructure programmes.
  • Understanding of GIS support required for project deliverables such as EIA submissions, detailed design support, site team and construction management plans.
  • Knowledge of GIS standards and information management principles and processes.
  • Demonstrable experience with GIS desktop software and databases, preferably ArcGIS Pro v3.2 & above.
  • Experience with mobile data collection tools such as ESRI Field Maps and Survey123.
  • Experience with FME software, ArcGIS API for Python and data integration desirable.
