Geotechnical Engineer sought at this innovative and inclusive, Large Multidisciplinary Consultancy. This role is based in London.

Overview

Our client is a leading engineering consultancy delivering innovative solutions across civil, geotechnical, traffic, and environmental disciplines. They partner with major developers, energy providers, corporations, healthcare systems, and educational institutions on complex projects worldwide.

They are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer in London to play a key role in the planning and execution of field investigations, monitoring foundation and earthwork construction, field and lab work solutions, and preparing logs and reports. You will be involved in the analysis of geotechnical engineering problems and assist in preparing geotechnical reports on large-scale and high-profile projects.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of field investigations, including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, collecting and recording data.
  • Observing foundation and earthwork construction activities; monitoring conformance with the construction documents.
  • Identifying and implementing solutions to routine and complex field or laboratory problems.
  • Preparing standard logs and field forms, including drilling and test pit logs, field investigation dailies, chain of custody logs.
  • Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, document searches.
  • Preparing, checking and reviewing a range of technical reports including Desk Studies, Interpretative reports, specifications, and Design reports.
  • Close support to Technical Directors and Associates, in project delivery, work-winning and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Active input to team and client meetings, being prepared to own decisions and put forward alternative ideas and concepts.
  • Preparing fee bids and proposals for internal and external clients.
  • Accurately document and communicate with supervisor on any problems encountered on project sites.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • BSc in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required; Master’s with Geotechnical specialty or intent to pursue preferred.
  • 3+ years of work-related background.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
  • Wide ranging background, knowledge, and skills in geotechnical engineering and/or engineering geology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
  • Willingness to spend the majority of work hours in the field.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits across the UK and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
