Job Summary

Are you a GP looking to work regular 8‑hour shifts including dedicated admin time? We are expanding our GP service and seeking clinicians to work across our two practices at East Park Medical Centre and its branch surgery in Halton. The role involves 4‑6 sessions a week, a mixture of 8‑4 or 10‑6pm shifts, with one day of work on Friday.

About Us

Our multidisciplinary team comprises Advanced Nurse Practitioners, a Mental Health Nurse, care navigators, ANPs, ACPs, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nurses, HCAs and a management team of medical secretaries, prescribing clerks and receptionists. We are a training practice for medical students, work towards GP registrars, and are involved in research projects. We embrace new IT technologies and are committed to reducing health inequalities and developing services to maximise patient access.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Deliver tier‑based care across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 patient groups, supporting the MDT and escalating concerns to the Clinical Lead as needed.
  • Administer prescriptions, check pathology results, manage paperwork and correspondence during dedicated appointment time.
  • Participate in daily team huddles, group consultations and clinical meetings covering governance, safeguarding, palliative care and complex presentations.
  • Provide a variety of consultations (surgery, telephone, video, home and care home) in accordance with the practice timetable.
  • Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions; sign repeat prescriptions and handle queries promptly.
  • Prescribe in line with the practice formulary or generically where appropriate.
  • Make autonomous clinical decisions for self‑referred or referred patients.
  • Assess patients’ health needs, screen for disease risk factors and early signs of illness, develop care plans and provide health education and counselling.
  • Record clear, contemporaneous notes to agreed standards and collect audit data, completing QOF requirements.
  • Deliver enhanced services such as home visits for Tier 3 complex patients when remote consults are not suitable.

Qualifications
Essential
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • Full registration with the GMC.
  • Certification of Completion of Training (MRCGP, JCPTGP or PMETB).
  • Inclusion on the NHS Performance listed practitioners.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Desirable
  • GP trainer.
Experience

  • Experience providing primary care in and out of hours.
Desirable
  • Experience in a primary care setting with significant health problems.
  • Development of clinical expertise in specific areas.
