Overview

Role: General Practitioner

Location: HMP Oakwood, Staffordshire (category C prison)

Contract: Permanent, Full-time hours but 24 hours / 6 sessions part-time equivalent

Salary: £110,000 - £119,215 per annum FTE (DOE)

Hours: Monday 7.30am - 4.00pm; Thursday 7.30am - 4.00pm; Friday 7.30am - 4.00pm

What you’ll be doing

Our General Practitioners are highly valued members of the Prison Healthcare team. Responsibilities include delivering high quality healthcare services to a diverse patient group with a range of needs including long-term conditions and substance misuse, participating in daily segregation rounds, and providing clinical governance and guidance to the wider healthcare team.

  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and develop knowledge across areas not typically found in a standard practice or A&E environment.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, making timely decisions regarding management.
  • Act as a highly specialist resource to other healthcare team members on site.
  • Engage in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.
