The post holder will manage a patient‑based caseload and address a wide range of health needs within a primary care setting, delivering high‑quality clinical care to all registered and temporary patients.
The role requires flexibility to undertake a range of duties, including on‑call sessions, face‑to‑face and telephone consultations, responding to clinical queries, home visits, reviewing and signing repeat prescriptions, and completing associated paperwork and correspondence efficiently.
The post holder will make professional, autonomous clinical decisions for patients presenting with both diagnosed and undifferentiated conditions, whether self‑referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
Clear and contemporaneous clinical records must be maintained, and prescribing will be in accordance with the practice formulary or generically where clinically appropriate.
Overall, the post holder will be expected to undertake the full range of duties associated with a GP role within primary care.

We have an excellent relationship with our small PCN, which comprises four practices. Through the PCN, we are supported by a wide range of ARRS staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, a first‑contact physiotherapist, a mental health practitioner, a digital transformation team, and paramedics. We are also fortunate to work closely with a large team of community link workers (social prescribers).
Our practice delivers consistently high standards of care, with particular strengths in the management of long‑term conditions. We offer a wide range of clinics, including minor surgery, joint injections, women's health, menopause, baby, and long‑term condition clinics, among others. We are proud to be consistently high QOF achievers year on year, reflecting the dedication and work ethic of our team.
In line with the agreed practice timetable, the post holder will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care within a primary care setting. Duties will include face‑to‑face surgery consultations, telephone and online consultations, low‑volume home visits, responding to clinical queries, reviewing and signing repeat prescriptions, and completing administrative work efficiently.
The post holder will make professional, autonomous clinical decisions for patients presenting with both diagnosed and undifferentiated conditions, whether self‑referred or referred by other healthcare professionals. This includes assessing healthcare needs, screening for disease risk factors, developing and implementing care plans in partnership with patients, and providing appropriate health education and counselling.
The role also involves making referrals to other services when appropriate, maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records, contributing to audit activity, and prescribing in line with the practice formulary or generically where clinically appropriate.
Overall, the post holder will be expected to undertake the full range of duties and responsibilities normally associated with a GP working in primary care.
The post holder will work in accordance with all practice policies and procedures, including those relating to prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control.
A commitment to lifelong learning, audit, and evidence‑based practice is essential. The role includes participation in appraisal, audit, quality improvement activity, and training events organised by the practice or external agencies, as well as contributing to the development and effective use of electronic patient records.
The post holder will maintain strict confidentiality at all times and handle sensitive patient, staff, and organisational information appropriately and in line with legislation and practice policy.
They will actively promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, treating patients, carers, and colleagues with dignity, respect, and compassion, and demonstrating due regard for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
The role includes shared responsibility for maintaining high standards of infection control, cleanliness, and health and safety across the practice, including appropriate use of PPE, safe sharps and waste management, and reporting and managing risks or incidents.
