A large health organization in Wales is seeking a porter to provide essential support across the hospital, including transporting patients, collecting waste, and delivering meal trolleys. Portering Services provides essential support to all areas of the hospital. The porter will be expected to react to the various challenges within the working environment, and the workload may be increased due to external influences including the environment, weather, patient capacity etc. The porter will work as part of a team contributing to the smooth running of the service, providing an efficient and effective response to requests for patient movement, assistance in emergency situations, collection and delivery of samples and medicines, whilst ensuring that other tasks such as delivery of meal trolleys, linen, goods and mail etc are carried out in a timely manner. A flexible approach is essential and the post holder will be expected to use own initiative.
Carry out duties as part of a team and individually to support the services within BCU. Collect waste from all areas of the site, transport patients to wards and departments, and transport meal trolleys. Communicate well and follow instructions given by management. This role includes day, night and weekend shifts. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
