Job description

Overview

Portering Services are looking for motivated individuals to join their small and friendly team. This physically demanding role rewards you with a challenging, patient‑focused experience and helps keep our services running smoothly. We are recruiting for full‑time and part‑time positions: 37.5 hrs a week (full‑time) and 22.75 hrs a week (part‑time, 3 days a week).

Responsibilities

• Work a 7‑day rota covering early, late and night duties, including weekends and bank holidays; each shift is 8 hrs with a 30‑min break.
• Walk 12–15 miles per day transiting patients on beds or chairs across wards.
• Move equipment and medical notes up to 15 kg and perform office/ward moves.
• Deliver internal post, pharmacy supplies and blood‑related products to wards.
• Operate on‑site electric vehicles for waste collection and deliveries.
• Maintain accurate records and support senior staff as required.
• Adhere to safety and confidentiality standards for sensitive duties.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and able to perform a physically demanding job.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• English & Mathematics at least C grade.
• Basic IT skills.
• Previous customer‑service or public‑service experience.
• Desired: NHS experience and prior porter experience in a hospital environment.
