A major infrastructure and engineering firm is looking for a General Building Engineer to work on-site in Cardiff. In this role, you’ll ensure the maintenance of facilities within a custodial environment, handling tasks like fire equipment checks and general maintenance. Candidates should have experience in maintenance and possess necessary technical skills. The firm offers competitive salary, career growth opportunities, and a supportive work environment.
We are excited to offer a permanent General Building Engineer opportunity to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMP Cardiff, Knox Rd, Cardiff CF24 0UG. This role is on-site. The standard hours of work are 39 hours.
At Amey, we support our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), by providing safe, clean and efficient prisons. By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly. The General Building Engineer plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.
You will work alongside the engineers in all maintenance across the site as well as working independently. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
Ideally you will be qualified in multiple areas of maintenance as outlined above with experience in general building maintenance.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have experience of working within a custodial environment with basic Health and Safety knowledge and exposure to building and system compliance, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
We welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates. If you have most but not all these skills and experiences, we encourage you to apply, as we may be able to offer development or training to support you.
