This is a part-time position for 24 hours. Hourly Rate £12.27 per hour for candidates without SIA License, £12.77 per hour for candidates with SIA License.

Role: Security Officer

A Security Officer patrols, monitors, and observes security procedures to ensure a safe Guest and Member experience while investigating theft and managing instances of undesirable behaviour.

Responsibilities
  • Join the Security Team at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole as a Gatehouse Security officer; work mainly outside at the entrance of the hotel
  • Monitor and control staff entrances; conduct regular searches of bags carried by staff and report discrepancies
  • Control the Goods pass out procedure for items purchased, loaned, or otherwise legitimately obtained
  • Maintain systems that monitor contractors and health and safety policies; check goods received out of hours
  • Maintain systems recording issue and receipt of departmental keys; operate, check and monitor CCTV
  • Patrol the hotel regularly; ensure fire walks are conducted and recorded
  • Ensure safe passage of cash transfers within the hotel; support evacuation during fire alarms
  • Monitor suspicious packages and be aware of bomb and terror threat procedures
  • Provide secure storage for guest oversized items; ensure facilities and function rooms are secure when not in use
  • Maintain Security Log Book and Incident Reports; investigate and report theft, vandalism and other incidents
  • Manage undesirable behaviour professionally, intervening and defusing potential altercations
  • Liaise with Police in the absence of Security Team Leader; report maintenance or hazard issues to supervisor on duty
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety Regulations
What are we looking for?
  • High school graduate or above
  • Good physical condition
  • At least two (2) years of law enforcement experience or military training
  • Knowledge of fire procedures, disaster plans, bomb threats and hotel evacuation procedures
  • Well-versed in local law/government regulation; absolute discretion and confidentiality
  • SIA trained and licensed
  • Positive attitude; good communication and grooming standards
  • Ability to work under pressure and in teams
  • It would be advantageous to have: previous experience in customer service, First Aid, knowledge of P.A.C.E., and IT proficiency
