Job summary

A leading recruitment consultancy in Scotland is seeking an experienced accountant for a six-month fixed-term contract to support the preparation and review of financial statements. The ideal candidate holds a recognised accounting qualification and has experience with trust or pension accounting. This role involves providing high-quality support to clients and maintaining compliance with financial reporting and tax legislation.

Qualifications

  • Experience in trust or pension accounting.
  • Strong working knowledge of FRS 102.
  • Experience with HMRC reporting is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality accounting support to external clients and internal teams.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements in line with professional and legal requirements.
  • Review accounts prepared by Finance Officers.
  • Provide technical accounting and tax-related guidance.
  • Support productivity improvements and identify process enhancements.

Job description

This six-month fixed-term contract offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant to support the preparation and review of financial statements across a diverse portfolio. This opportunity will suit someone who can deliver high-quality accounting outputs, support junior team members and contribute to ongoing operational improvements.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing high-quality accounting support to external clients and internal teams.
  • Preparing statutory financial statements in line with professional and legal requirements.
  • Reviewing accounts prepared by Finance Officers and supporting their development.
  • Supporting accounting processes across pensions, trusts and corporate schemes.
  • Providing technical accounting and tax-related guidance to the Finance team.
  • Maintaining awareness of changes in financial reporting and tax legislation.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, auditors and business partners.
  • Supporting productivity improvements and identifying process enhancements.
  • Completing other duties as required to support business priorities.
  • Upholding company values and contributing to team development.
Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a recognised accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or ACA, with experience in trust or pension accounting and strong working knowledge of FRS 102. They will be organised, accurate and confident managing deadlines, with excellent communication skills and the ability to guide junior staff. Experience with HMRC reporting would be beneficial.
