Overview

Digital Forensic Services are vital to helping our officers to combat crime, protect the vulnerable, enable safer communities, and make a difference that really matters. Thames Valley Police is transforming our Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU) to deliver proportionate, timely services that support effective crime investigation for TVP and external organisations. As part of this transformation, there is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital Portfolio of FIU as 1 x Frontline Digital Technician, based at Slough Police Station. Reporting to a Digital Forensic Frontline Team Leader and Operational Supervisor, you will ensure that the early examination of exhibits occurs to determine the best course of action in any case using a comprehensive triage process to identify those exhibits suitable for further analysis. This can involve material or images of a distressing nature.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct early examination of exhibits to determine the best course of action using a triage process to identify those suitable for further analysis.
  • Perform frontline digital forensic activities within the FIU, supporting immediate investigation needs.
  • Handle material or images of a distressing nature in a professional and compliant manner.
  • Maintain accurate contemporaneous records of all examinations and actions taken.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Practical experience and knowledge of computer hardware and software, with a good standard of education including numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage own workload.
  • Capability to travel to different locations across the Force and undertake assignments in a timely manner.
  • Good communication skills and a can-do attitude.
  • Experience of working in digital forensics, forensic capacity, or a digital forensics degree.
  • Experience of managing priorities against high demands.
  • Collaborative approach to working with others across the forensic portfolio.
  • Full UK full driving licence (manual).
  • Ability to engage with ISO accreditation requirements.
