Swahili Freelance Remote Translator

We help non-English speakers access essential services, such as medical care, by providing interpreters of over 512 languages and dialects. Dals is seeking Swahili speakers to join our team of freelance translators working remotely. If you're proficient in both English and Swahili and have translation experience, we’d love to connect with you!

Join our expanding network of freelance translators at Dals, where we offer written translation services to clients across the UK. This position plays a vital role in helping our clients deliver their services efficiently by translating documents into the languages required by their service users. This role offers an excellent chance to develop your translation career within a dynamic industry.

Responsibilities

• Translate digital documents for clients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
• Proofread translated materials as needed.
• Communicate with the booking team for support or to report issues, ensuring documents are ready for client submission.

Qualifications & Experience

• Right to Work in the country of residence.
• Fluent in English and Swahili at a C1 level or higher.
• Prepared to undergo a trial assessment.
• Have a Basic DBS check or equivalent security clearance for EU residents.
• At least 1 year of translation experience, translating a minimum of 100,000 words or completing 100 assignments.
• Relevant qualifications in Translation, Languages, Linguistics, or related fields (e.g., BA/MA in Translation, CIOL Level 7 Diploma in Translation, DPI Level 4 & 5 in Translation, BA/MA in Languages or Linguistics).

Additional Details

• This is a completely flexible freelance position: you decide when and how long you work. You log into our interpreting app when ready, and you will be paid for each minute you work.
• As a freelancer, you are responsible for your own tax payments.
• Approx. 100 hours of interpreting experience (professional or voluntary) is requested, along with a valid security clearance/criminal background check.
• We will conduct a telephone language assessment to confirm proficiency.
