The role is for an experienced Forensic/Clinical/Counselling/Neuro Psychologist to join the team at St Mary's Hospital in Warrington, Cheshire. The successful candidate will provide specialist care and treatment to adult male patients who are detained under the Mental Health Act, many of whom have Acquired Brain Injury and forensic histories. The role offers a range of opportunities and experience in clinical work across different wards, including medium secure, low secure, rehabilitation, and acute services.
The Forensic/Clinical/Counselling/Neuro Psychologist will be responsible for providing psychological assessments, formulating treatment plans, implementing a range of psychological interventions, acting as a psychologist for a ward or group of patients, and developing and managing group work programmes and therapeutic approaches. They will also play a key role in service developments and provide an evidence-based approach to new clinical initiatives.

What you will be doing:
You willprovide specialist care and treatment to adult male patients who are detained under the Mental Health Act (1983). Our service users, many of whom have Acquired Brain Injury and forensic histories, require long term treatment and rehabilitation and present with multiple difficulties, including high risk behaviour and complex care needs. St Mary's hospital offers a breadth of opportunity and experience for clinical work, with a medium secure and a low secure ward; a Level 2 rehabilitation ward; and an Acute service. This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week.
In collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and under the direction and supervision of the Joint Heads of Psychology, you will support the delivery of psychology services across St Mary’s Hospital. In the absence of the Joint Heads, you will act as the primary point of contact between the psychology department and the senior management team.
As the Forensic/ Clinical/ Counselling/ Neuro Psychologist you will have active participation in multidisciplinary team work, ensuring that our service users are fully engaged in their care pathways. It also includes supporting clinical team efforts through both direct interventions and the facilitation of staff training programmes. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new initiatives and ways of working within the service and working in partnership with both internal and external agencies to enhance treatment pathways for service users.
There is a strong emphasis on teamwork, supervision and CPD, with support from a regional network of Psychologists.
