We are working with a specialist environmental contractor who are leading the way in wastewater treatment solutions. Their work makes a genuine difference, protecting rivers, streams and communities by upgrading outdated septic systems to modern treatment plants. With strong contracts in place across Cumbria and now seek an experienced Foreman to take charge of installation projects.

The Role

As Foreman, you will lead a small team responsible for installing domestic wastewater treatment plants throughout Cumbria. This is a hands-on role where you will operate excavators and dumpers, manage groundwork activities, oversee health and safety on site, and ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

You will be the first point of contact on site, liaising with your team, senior management, and occasionally clients. Typical projects last around one week, running Monday to Friday, with some longer schemes where necessary. Occasional overnight stays will be required (with allowances paid).

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a small site team (typically 1-3 operatives)
  • Oversee excavation, trenching, and installation of treatment plants
  • Operate plant machinery including excavators and dumpers
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures at all times
  • Communicate effectively with management and site staff
  • Drive company vehicles between sites (Cumbria-wide coverage)
  • Maintain tidy and professional sites upon completion
Requirements
  • Valid UK driving licence (maximum 6 points, no recent endorsable offences)
  • Good level of fitness and stamina for outdoor manual work
  • Strong background in groundworks, including safe excavation up to 3m depth
  • Experience managing small teams on site
  • Positive attitude and strong communication skills
  • Clean work record with no criminal convictions
Schedule
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
  • Some nights away (allowances provided)
