Food Technician - Secondary School - Barnet - Immediate/ASAP Start - Full-Time

Tradewind Recruitment are supporting welcoming and well‑run secondary schools in Barnet who are seeking Food Technicians to join their teams on a full‑time, long‑term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a practical environment and supporting teaching and learning.

Food Technician - Role Overview

As a Food Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the Food Technology department. Duties include:

  • Preparing, setting up, and clearing away ingredients, equipment, and resources for lessons.
  • Supporting students during practical activities and promoting safe working practices.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene across food preparation areas.
  • Monitoring stock levels, ordering ingredients, and rotating supplies.
  • Ensuring equipment is cleaned, maintained, and stored safely.
  • Assisting with classroom displays, resource preparation, and general departmental support.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or food technology environment (school experience desirable).
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and confidence supporting young people.
  • Understanding of food hygiene and safe working practices.
  • A positive, proactive, and hands‑on attitude.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
