Job description
Food Safety Technician | Days | 4 on, 4 off | B Shift

We have an exciting opportunity for a Food Safety Technician to join our team, here at Yorkshire Baker, working 12-hour shifts from 6am-6pm, 4 on, 4 off

The main purpose of the role is to protect the food safety, integrity and quality of products that are produced. This will be achieved through the delivery of critical food safety key performance indicators such as microbiological testing, auditing, good manufacturing practice inspections amongst other measures. Whilst supporting the factory technical and operational cross-functions to ensure that products made at Yorkshire Baker enter the food chain in a safe status

Main duties include (but not limited to):
  • Protect the safety of Cranswick products through food safety checks at all stages of the process, through sampling, inspection, and testing
  • To complete key food safety assessments required on the factory floor such as CCP audits, GMP audits and key equipment checks and challenge any out of specification or non-conforming activity
  • Hygiene inspections and any required positive release assessments on lines and equipment during production
  • Understanding and actioning escalation to the Factory Technical Manager, where required
  • Be a food safety champion on the factory floor and understand when to intervene and coach towards better food safety culture and understanding in operatives
  • Raise non-conformances on internal IT systems with accurate detail and understand emerging patterns of non-conformances and take appropriate action
  • To complete key food safety assessments required on the factory floor such as CCP audits, GMP audits and key equipment checks and challenge any out of specification or non-conforming activity
  • Take responsibility for the area of the factory that has been assigned to ensure key food safety measures are taking place and to deploy corrective action if control of this is lost
  • Where required, supporting the Factory Technical Manager to investigate food safety incidents, and pulling together of key critical information in relation to this
  • To assist operations by giving guidance to those who are paneling finished product
Candidate requirements:
  • A passion for food safety with a proactive approach
  • IOSH Working Safety Level 2 & Food Safety Level 2
  • Knowledge of HACCP
  • A Food Champion on the factory floor
  • Experience of working in fast-paced food production factory
  • IT Skills
