£13 Per Hour Up to £13.05 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications) + Overtime Allowance

Location: Hockley, Birmingham, B18 5AY
Salary: Up to £13.05 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications) + Overtime Allowance
Contract: Full Time, Permanent

We are looking for dedicated Factory Operatives to join our team at our Hockley site.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be involved in different parts of our production process – from preparing ingredients and making pastry, to baking, packing, and dispatch.

You’ll play a key part in ensuring our patties reach customers to the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and food safety.

This is a varied role, and you may be assigned to work in Kitchen, Production, High Care Packing, Low Care, Warehouse, or Dispatch depending on shift and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on work area, your responsibilities may include:

  • Cooking fillings and preparing pastry to recipe specifications
  • Operating production line machinery safely and effectively
  • Checking and recording weights, temperatures, and quality standards
  • Cleaning machinery, equipment, and work areas

Packing (High Care & Low Care)

  • Wrapping and boxing patties accurately and efficiently
  • Conducting product checks, calibration, and metal detection tests
  • Ensuring correct labelling and date coding
  • Stacking and palletising finished products

Dispatch & Warehouse

  • Picking and checking orders ready for delivery
  • Loading/unloading stock and completing dispatch paperwork
  • Maintaining freezer, chiller, and warehouse areas to required standards
  • Supporting customer collections and door sales
What We’re Looking For
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate machinery safely
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in following instructions
  • Basic numeracy skills (measuring, weighing, scaling batches)
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Awareness of health & safety and food hygiene standards
  • Ability to work shifts (including Saturdays)
  • Basic computer knowledge

Desirable (not essential):

  • Food Safety Handling Certification
  • HACCP awareness or certification
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training
