Overview

Severn Trent is a water and waste company with a logistics focus. Our Transport team currently repairs and maintains a fleet of over 3,000 vehicles, from company cars to water tankers, to safely transport equipment, resources and teams around from A to B, day in day out.

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact. By 2030, we aim to have 100% electric vehicles, where available, with other low-carbon options such as hydrogen and biogas under exploration. We also strive for net zero carbon across the business and 100% renewable power by 2030. It’s an exciting time to join us on this journey as we reduce our carbon footprint.

We're looking for a Fleet Technician with HGV experience to join our busy servicing team, working Monday – Friday, based at our Finham, Coventry site.

This is a great opportunity for a technician to use their mechanical knowledge to find faults, maintain service levels, and repair vehicles in Severn Trent Water Fleet of over 3,000 vehicles (cars, light and heavy commercial vehicles and mobile plant).

Responsibilities
  • Service and maintain a diverse range of company vehicles and plant to a high standard, ensuring Severn Trent Water and manufacturer guidelines are followed
  • Attend unscheduled maintenance and emergency works
  • Prepare and present company vehicles for annual testing to required standards, inputting all key job information daily into a fleet management system

You'll typically work a 37-hour week, Monday to Friday (hours between 7.30am – 5.30pm). Overtime may be required but is optional and compensated.

What you’ll bring to the role

Driving will be part of this role, so a full manual driving licence is required.

Experience in Fleet Maintenance and a recognised Apprenticeship with City & Guilds qualifications or NVQ equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Level 3 and above) is essential.

A Level 3 qualification in HGV Service & Maintenance is vital; an HGV licence would be an added bonus.

We’ll provide training and relevant qualifications to develop your skills and knowledge as you progress your career.

The right skills and experience matter, but we also value character, positivity and a caring attitude. We welcome people from all walks of life and believe diverse minds help us learn and better serve our communities.

What’s in it for you

Working here is more than a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent and we’ll reward you with comprehensive benefits and award-winning training. You’ll also help look after the environment and the communities where we live.

Here are some of our top perks:

  • Pay framework from Entry to Expert, up to £42,031.49
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays (ability to buy/sell up to 5 days per year)
  • Annual bonus scheme (up to £1,500, eligibility applies)
  • Leading pension scheme – employer contributions can be boosted to 15% with ongoing employee contribution
  • Sharesave – option to buy Severn Trent Plc shares at a discount
  • Dedicated training and development with our Academy
  • Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Two paid volunteering days per year
