Purpose

We’re looking for a dynamic 1st Team Physical Performance Coach to help drive success at Manchester City Women. In this role, you’ll deliver evidence-based physical performance support, developing players who can perform with high skill and intensity across a demanding season.

As a key member of our Physical Performance Team and wider multidisciplinary group, you’ll work closely with players and coaches to design and deliver integrated strength and conditioning programmes that create meaningful, measurable impact on performance.

Your Impact
  • Lead the planning, delivery, and review of evidence-based strength and conditioning programmes, on and off the pitch, aligned with MCFC Performance Services strategy.
  • Work closely with coaches and the physical performance team to design and review pitch-based training that delivers targeted physical outputs.
  • Develop training plans that optimise player physical profiles and support progression across positions.
  • Deliver evidence-informed S&C support throughout injury rehab and return-to-play, collaborating effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Implement and review physical profiling systems to inform individual development plans, S&C programmes, and WITTW insights.
  • Support the development and use of monitoring systems (load, wellness, neuromuscular status) to provide actionable insights for MDT decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the MDT to plan and deliver recovery and regeneration strategies that maximise adaptation.
  • Provide matchday physical performance support to ensure players are fully prepared to perform.
  • Contribute to department-wide projects and initiatives that enhance the MCWFC Physical Performance programme.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to ensure practice remains aligned with leading research and industry standards.
What we are looking for
Essential
Essential Qualifications :

BSc in Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning or related area.

  • A recognised postgraduate qualification (ie MSc) in Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning or related area
  • UKSCA Accreditation or equivalent
  • First Aid qualification
Essential Skills & Experience :
  • Significant experience working in an elite sporting environment.
  • Significant experience of working effectively within a high-performing interdisciplinary team. • Significant experience developing and delivering physical development programmes to achieve objective performance impact
  • An ability to develop excellent relationships with players, coaches & the wider MDT.
  • An ability to reflect on current working practice & adapt as required.
  • An ability to utilise performance related data to inform practice
Desirable
  • Experience working in elite professional football.
  • Previous experience working with elite female athletes / in Women’s sport.
  • BASES accreditation
  • Experienced delivering / contributing successful physical change in complex injury rehabilitation / return to play programmes
