Job description

We are seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer to join an established and respected fire protection company. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a technical environment, enjoys working autonomously, and takes pride in delivering precise, compliant, and well-coordinated sprinkler system designs.

As a Sprinkler Design Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the project team, ensure accurate and timely technical submissions, and provide support and mentorship to junior designers. You will play a key part in ensuring all sprinkler system designs meet current industry standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design a variety of automatic sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre‑action, and deluge systems
  • Perform hydraulic calculations using Canute and manual methods
  • Coordinate sprinkler layouts with the building structure, MEP services, and project constraints
  • Attend onsite and online client‑driven design coordination meetings
  • Conduct site surveys to ensure designs align with actual conditions and existing services
  • Prepare and submit 2D drawings for approval, construction, and as‑built phases
  • Ensure all designs comply with company design standards and BIM requirements
  • Provide daily support and mentorship to Trainee Designers
  • Assist installation teams with design‑related queries and challenges
  • Contribute to RFIs and help prepare relevant project documentation
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of LPCB, NFPA, BSEN 9990, BSEN 9251, BSEN 12845
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the fire suppression industry
  • LPCB Basic, Intermediate, or FHC certification (preferred)
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic design software (Canute/FHC)
  • Confident and clear communicator, able to present technical information effectively
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage workload independently with minimal supervision
  • Full UK driving licence
