Job description

This fast growing entrepreneurial construction and property management business has multiple sites across the country with a fantastic head office based in Leeds.

The business have doubled their turnover in the last 2 years and have further growth projections for 2026 - this is a fast paced, dynamic company on the upward trajectory of growth.

As a result of their continued success, the Finance Director is looking hire and commercially focused Finance Controller, who will be number 2 in Finance overseeing a small team.

The ideal candidate will be ACA/Big 4 with both technical and commercial experience within industry. Property/Construction experience would also be highly desirable.

Reporting to the Financial Director, the key duties will include:

  • Key member of the senior leadership team with autonomy to lead the finance function on a day-to-day basis.
  • Leading and developing a growing team based in Leeds.
  • Oversight and governance over business reporting ensuring strong financial controls over expenditure, reporting, budgeting and cash management.
  • Developing and producing insightful management reporting.
  • Improving financial process and control.
  • Ensuring adherence to accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements
  • Managing the annual external audit.
  • Liaising with the Group Accountant on treasury, and tax strategy and compliance
  • Enhancement of existing finance processes, IT systems and procedures.
  • Proactively develop an understanding of the requirements of the business, by developing strong working relationships with colleagues, and strive to meet these requirements. Aim to integrate the finance function into the business.
  • Develop robust, quality management and performance information to the business and influence strategic decision making.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to Management to inform decision making.
  • Lead the annual budget and within year forecasting processes.
  • Financial due diligence on new developments and refinancing working closely with the Legal Director.
  • Understanding and reporting financial and business risk
The successful candidate will:
  • Be ACA qualified, ideally with Big 4 training/background - Essential
  • Have previous experience in a similar role within the property or construction sector - Essential
  • Have exceptional business partnering skills - Essential
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and tax.
